Luckily it was just 3-4 hours from Nainital.. Yes the Jim Corbett National Park is very much located here in Corbett. This time our stay was at Tiger Camps Resort, Corbett. We reached at around 9.30 am. They welcomed us with a drink extracted from the branches of a kind of trees ah! can't remember the name and a gori applied red tikka before we entered. The ambiance of the resort was lovely. Had we known this place was so beautiful we would have compromised our stay at Mussoorie for Corbett. In Tiger Camps Resort the rooms where individual cottages. The resort self sufficed for various activities. Food was served at "Gol Ghar" their in-house full-fledged restaurant and the food was awesome with different set of cuisines served..
After lunch we played a round of TT(Table Tennis) with expert commentary from Hubby. The round was Professional v/s Newbie :P We also went to the Kosi river running alongside the resort, literally the water was crystal clear.
We had to leave for our Jungle Safari in the wee hours of morning. We had booked for the safari well in advance since we wanted to tour the Bijrani zone of the national park where the chances of an encounter with Sambar, Chital and Tigers etc are high. Later did we realize, Elephant safaris are much more adventurous and chances to have close encounters are more... The Jeep picked us up from the Resort.

Corbett was much more colder than Nainital and in wee hours of morning after wearing our sweater, jacket and gloves. We where freezing like hell.
At the national park every jeep is accompanied by a jungle guide. Their goal is to help us encounter a Tiger, only then do they get their hefty tip. We tried to follow the pug marks, though we couldn't see any of them. He took us through various routes in and out. Though the excitement and the nervousness expecting to encounter a Tiger was a killing experience. Strange but the guides keep telling they can here and understand all sorts of calls made by the animals and would ask us to concentrate and try to listen. I was so cold and numb, I couldn't concentrate to hear one. Also they say the monkeys and deers are friends. They help each other to save themselves from the wild ones. Sounded Quite Interesting... We were happy that the experience was really good although we didn't see a Tiger but at least could catch a glimpse of the other animals. Later in the day we checked out and proceeded to Mussoorie. Now Corbett to Mussoorie was another 6-7 hrs of travel. By this time we had got so bored and tired of travelling by road for long hours.

Well visit Mussoorie only if you want to relax. There is no place of interests as such or rather I didn't find anything interesting. The hotels there are not that great at least were not equivalent to the ones we have always stayed in. Nevertheless the weather was even more chillier than Corbett (5-6 degrees). Probably the coldest of all the three places. The climb to the top had so many blind turns, felt like it would never end. Above all we had started to feel hungry and it was getting dark. It also becomes difficult to drive especially with so many turns in a mountain when it gets dark. We had a 3-day stay here and were so bored. I would never recommend Mussoorie as a tourist spot. So commercialized yet no place to see. The best part of the stay in Mussoorie was we found a South Indian Restaurant which served our favorite dosas. Else the only food you get in North for breakfast, lunch and dinner are the Parathas.
After 3 long boring days and a happy new year we were now all excited to get back home. The 9 hour journey from Mussoorie to Delhi Airport was tiring though en-route the scenic beauty was pleasant. Thankfully reached the airport on time. The driver was more tensed to drop us on time, since he had started getting calls from his family :P Also after 6 pm the Delhi traffic sets in..
Its been almost a year and half since our visit to North. And our next planned trip was to Wayanad,Kerala. Probably the almighty wanted us to now travel abroad :) and before we could visit Wayanad, Kerala. We landed at Singapore...

Our trip to the beautiful Uttarakhand - Part I(Nainital )

My wish to see snow and to experience the coldest winter actualized in our trip to North India during December and the bookings where made around Christmas to New Year. This was my first ever trip to North India. I know the temperatures will be at its low during that time. The places we were covering were Nainital, Corbett and Mussoorie. Point to be noted is since these places are not directly accessible, travel by road was the only option from Delhi. Each place is some 7-8 hours journey from the airport.
As always vacations come with their part of experience and excitement, also some patience awaiting for it.
So on the 24th of December,2009 we had an early morning flight to Delhi. We could feel the change in temperatures when we disembarked the flight in Delhi (19 degrees ). Like a child I was excited to see my frozen breath in the air. Wore my sweater, gloves and a woolen stole(bought by Jo from Austria) and walked towards the car.

Our first point of stop was Nainital and it was a good long 7-hr journey by road. The first surprise that came our way was when the driver said some one else will be driving us to Nainital and asked us to let him go for his stupid reasons sigh! And the new driver came in. True to say we weren't very comfy with the Northie drivers, sadly we had no other option but go with it.

So the trip begins and mid-way we halted for our lunch at a dhaba. The food was good and the bill as well, the second surprise. ;) We proceed there on sleeping and chatting all the way. It had already started to get dark at 5.30pm and we wanted to reach the hotel before it is completely dark. The Hotel Chevron Fairhavens was situated close to the Naini lake. It was a heritage hotel, a british time YWCA converted to hotel. The interiors was still maintained in british style. The weather was quite chilly at night around 9-10 degrees. The rooms had no fans and air-conditioners (not required though)and thankfully they had warmers in the room. Since it was X'Mas eve, they had bonfire and a buffet party...
The next day we went to Naini lake for a boat ride. The best part of Nainital is this boat ride. There is also a zoo that we had visited which was at the peak. The road to the zoo was very steep only the jeeps can take us up there. The jeeps drop us close to the zoo. I didn't find the zoo to be that great after our visit to the Singapore Zoo. Though we could see a variety of Deers, monkeys, Cheetah & Leopard.

There was also a cable car ride to the Top station. I always thought every hill station has a Top Station, a Sunset point and a Suicide point at least in India but surprisingly we also found one Top Station in Langkawi, Malaysia. Once we reached the Top Station, there was another Top point which gives a view of the snow peaked mountains of the Himalayas. The View was charismatic and breath-taking (pun intended). We had some piping hot tea(which turned cold in a minute or two) and some hot bhajiyas..

These places have been so much commercialised, you can find shops, road-side stalls and hotels almost everywhere more than the places of interest.

Call it Passion or Craze..

1. Mitsubishi Trium: This was my very first Mobile. Gifted to my parents by my maternal uncle and they didn’t really feel any need for using it. Only thing they did was to put a prepaid sim and we had a mobile number to say.
I used to take it to my super strict college during my graduation years, hidden in my bag and in a silent mode.. And to make any urgent phone calls would go to the washroom and speak as low as possible. The phone was heavy with an antenna and initially I didn’t know what features it had and I don’t remember if I ever bothered to explore it.. Looks weren’t great but yes felt proud to roam around saying I have a mobile phone..
2. Nokia 3315: After M-trium, my eye was on a better phone. Since I wasn’t earning then.. I asked dad with a lot of background study for convincing answers, whether I could get a Nokia 3315. That was the beginning for the craze I guess.
And he promised to get me one on my Birthday. I was happy, happy and very happy.. The first buy from over eBay. Had a couple of talks with the dealer if he could work-out a trade-in for the M-Trium, which he finally agreed. The trade-in amount was quite good although we didn’t expect much going by it’s looks.. It was delivered my B’day(2003)
I was in top of the world. Probably the best gift I ever wanted. I was so excited that I didn’t leave any feature of the phone unchecked.. From ringtones to sms templates etc.. Low on words to express the happiness it gave.. Soon after it arrived I also changed the body case to a Reddish Pink which came along in the kit. I just loved the color.. After Nokia 3315 I patiently waited to complete my Masters and then get one on my own.
During this period my sis also got a Nokia 3315. So now Murali family had two mobiles..
3. Nokia 6100: I had completed my Masters and was placed in a good Organization. Now I yearned for a colour phone and the search had already begun. With permission from my parents to get something from my First Salary I went ahead and bought Nokia 6100. This had 1.3 MP camera, FM, GPRS and most of all it was a colour phone.. Sleek and small.. My first gadget that I bought.. I realized this craze is not gonna end soon..
4. Nokia 6600: Not sure how long Nokia 6100 lasted probably some 6 months. Now I had changed my job and was in the field of Mobile Development. Felt like I was destined to be in this field looking at my increasing craze for mobiles and gadgets. So now it goes without saying I had to get my next mobile which was Nokia 6600.. I wasn’t so impressed with the design but there were good reviews of the phone.
5. Nokia 6101: 2-3 months down the line I was bored with Nokia 6600 and bought Nokia 6101. Bored of candy bar phones I wanted to use a clamshell. Performance and features weren’t as good as 6600 but for the sake of clamshell I bought it.. This one lasted for another 3-4 months..

6. Motorola w650: This phone was the next buy from eBay. It was a very cute and small phone, would be well hidden in our fist. This purchase was Mom’s gift to Dad. But he wasn’t keen on using it in the fear that he would lose it. So it came over to me.. I used for a while then sis.. Somehow we weren’t very comfortable with the phone. Dad started using it after lot of compulsion and like his fear came true it got lost.. He was so tensed he stopped using a mobile phone.
7. Nokia 6670: This phone had spent the shortest time with me. I didn’t do much of curious exploring on the phone and it gave way to the next one.
8. Nokia N70: N70 lasted almost for a year and half. I had bought this phone as soon as I joined Web18. The phone bills were taken care-of, the best thing any mobile developer would want.. Fully functional with edge and development tests on the go. This phone was at it’s best everytime. The very point that my colleague had a N71 triggered the thought of owning NSeries phones.. And this was the start..
9. Nokia N73: Past 1.5 yrs in Web18. With the line of events happening in my life like marriage, moving to a new house, quitting the current job etc.. I moved over to Nokia N73. This time since there was one more person in my life.. His go-ahead nod was also required. It was important for me that he knows about this crazy passion of mine for gadgets..
From the day I joined Web18 and companies there on, every mobile of mine has passed through various ordeals.. They were put to use in the best possible way.
N73 has a very good camera. This phone came to our rescue when our digital camera conked off right at the beginning of our honeymoon trip. And also a lovely music phone.. Rest of the features were as good as any other NSeries phones then..
10. HTC Touch: This was the first phone I bought after marriage. Since my hubby isn’t much into gadget. I had to persuade and convince before I bought this. The first and last windows phone I ever owned.. I wasn’t very comfortable with the screen sensitivity. Soon after I bought this phone I received some freelancing offers. Realized this phone wouldn’t be of much help unless I developed a touch screen version of every app. So had to necessarily move over to the next one.
11. Nokia N81: I bought this phone right after HTC Touch. This one was classy. A little heavy but had great looks.. The music version had inbuilt 8GB HD. Put it to use for some of my work. On a trip to my native place, I exchanged this phone with my maternal uncle for a Nokia E63.
12. Nokia E63: Used this phone for quite some time and is till with me.. The phone which made me acquainted with QWERTY keyboards. Sleek and smart phone.. Camera ain’t that good. But rarely do I use phone cameras to take photos.
Android was the next OS I had laid my hands on at work. And this firm had its own set of handsets for the development tests.. So I could actually get to try the phones before I thought about the next buy.
13. HTC Hero: One of the best phones in 2009 was HTC Hero with Android 1.6 which was later updated to 2.1. No updates after 2.1. Android had just set it in and I was already pulled into it. I wasn’t so much of an Apple fan although I use one now. But Android got me my bread and butter So no pushing it aside.. Well this phone was my hubby’s gift for our wedding anniversary from Singapore.. One could say as a compensation for the number of long trips he made to Singapore then.. Little did we know we would land here in an year’s time.. This phone’s still with me and recently upgraded it to 2.3. Yep, Installed a Custom ROM(CyanogenMod 7). Initially was a bit nervous, but the entire process of Rooting and Flashing a new ROM was smooth and exciting.
14: iPhone 4: We had just landed in Singapore and everywhere I see is Apple Products.. Every person owns an iPhone. I was so pissed off and irritated that I also ended up owning an iPhone 4 em.. call it jealousy :P . But people, I am still an Android fan. iPhone is just for the sake of owning one.. I agree it makes people completely dependent. And giving a break is absolutely important or else it becomes difficult to make a shift..
Although Mom & Dad & now my Hubby ask me to keep a cap on my purchase for mobiles.. It’s been irresistible and bought them by convincing all of them by putting across the specs, feature or whatever be it..
I have always loved and miss my phones with every purchase. My most loved ones were 3315, N70, N73 and the three phones that I still have. The phones I still own are HTC Hero, E63 and iPhone 4.
Call it passion or craze, for the gadgets especially mobiles still holds strong..Though now I have learnt to patiently await with all the excitement for the next one …

Runaway trip to Langkawi!

We were planning for our first vacation from Singapore and after a round of confusions and discussions ended up deciding Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia.
We had planned a weekend trip to Langkawi. After some research and suggestions from friends we decided to stay at Berjaya Resorts. Well we went through their website and checked out the types of rooms available and booked for the Rainforest Chalet. It takes a lot of patience awaiting the vacation especially after a hectic schedule at work for over 2-3 weeks. Although a short one but we were full of excitement. Our flight was at 11 and reached Changi well on time. I love Changi Airport. The immigration was done in a jiffy and after an hour or so we were ready to board the flight. The best part of the journey to Langkawi was the view en route SG to Langkawi.
The view was just mind-blowing and breath-taking. The ships at the harbor looked like fishes, the beautiful horizon, the blue waters.. literally for some one who loves blue, they wouldn’t have wished for anything more. There were all shades of it.
The scenic one hour journey came to an end and we landed at Langkawi airport. It was a small airport. The security was quite stringent and it took a while for the immigrations to get over and once done we drove off to Berjaya Resorts..
The next inimitable thing was the resort. Amidst the rainforest spread over acres of land was this resort. To our luck they had upgraded our room to a Family Suite. The Berjaya beach was just a stone’s throw away from the resort.
A shuttle drove us to our chalet. The room was luxurious with a view to the beach, I didn’t want to get out of the room. The chalet by itself looked splendid.
We also managed to find some vegetarian food out of their list of mostly the other kind. The resort had a Beach restaurant which served Indian food though limited variety to select from. After coming to Singapore probably that was the first place the food actually tasted Indian more to say North-Indian Vegetarian Food. It had a wonderful ambiance, artists were singing and playing some soothing music. I wished they would come to our table and sing for us and they did the very next day.. Finding veggie food wasn’t much of an issue thankfully.
The only important place of interest for me was the enchanting Sky Bridge (Yea, the same one from the Movie DON where the last scene was shot). It is located 700 meters (2,300 ft) above sea level at the peak of Gunung Mat Enchanting on Pulau Langkawi. The Cable Car is the only way to get to this bridge.. People who have acrophobia think twice before you take the cable car. The ride from the base to the top station is very scenic and also quite scary. There were also plenty of duty-free shops around the place. The experience to feel the cool breeze in the cloudy weather at that height cannot be put in words. Just awesome.
It feels so nice traveling to such beautiful places.
Well this was about my trip Langkawi. The next best place I will miss after Corbett

Majulah Singapura!

I will be completing 1 year in Singapore in a week’s time. And time just flew off, I still remember the day I landed here and hubby drove me to our new rented home.I was so mesmerized with view of the house.. We were the first tenants for our landlord and so to say the house was brand new or at least looked like one..
The initial six months were quick. Lots of shopping and eagerness to be called a Singapore return when I go to India for my sis’s wedding.. And to be honest this is the best place any woman would want to be for all the shopping corners it has.
I love the colorful Singapore. The place is so beautiful at night and in the day I am reminded of my native place which makes it even more beautiful, Contrast ain’t it. I was surprised to see the people follow rules like hell.. even at the signals.. No honking horns.. and lots of patience.. The public transport is awesome. Most of all senior citizens are given utmost care.
People do crib the system is pretty much predictable and monotonous. No variety and chaos like in India. But I say it’s so well organized that’s why it is predictive and the reason for it’s progress..
Well all said and done.. I do miss India for my people and the festivals and occasions.. Sigh!
So let’s see how long I am gonna be here and I write a post++ every year I complete..

Capture your happy days

All thanks to watching the idiot box regularly especially the “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hein”. Well there is this particular episode where Akshara gifts Naitik(her husband) an album on their wedding anniversary, which has all the happy moments spent together. This episode struck me an idea to do something like this. Usually people tend to write diaries for the most part which will include their worries, and the gloomy part than the joyous moments of their life. But if you think of it seldom do we think of our happy moments be it however small or big. And that’s where capturing your happy moments comes to play. A form to remember those small precious and happy moments be it a collection of photos or any other creative form to keep them forever. Somewhere down the line when you turn back and have a look at those captured moments, it will just make your day and bring a big wide smile to our face.

Cyberhills

Every company has taught me something where I also got to meet some interesting managers. I just wished it would have been better if I could some them as Vampires. They never have a limit over demanding deadlines. My first night out was in Cyberhills, the manager wanted to release the project "World cup soccer" the very next day. God damn! Couldnt he give us an intimation. The next day I reached home all sleepy-sloppy , I wondered how did I get home? But I enjoyed them. There's no fun in life if you dont take up adventures be it small or big :) The manager in Cyberhills was a Korean and we all thanked him for spoiling our English. I thought babies would understand us better haha..!. I was always curious to know has he even coded in his life. My most memorable first job was working in Cyberhills - a startup with not more than 10 employees.
The Tech Lead - BNVD Praveen (BNVD really is a looonn...g name, can't recollect what it was), the developers - Ronak, myself, Rishi, Uma & Ravi and the designers Sarvesh,Aryaman & Purnima.
We were more of family than colleagues, say it play @ work or work @ play, it was fun. Our lunch times extending from 1/2 hr to 1 hr. We used to finish our lunch in 10-15 mins and the rest of the time was spent playing Need for Speed over the LAN. Then Quake 3 which made me dizzy and my head would go bang-bang! Our conference table was the lunch table where all of us had lunch together sharing, gossiping, fighting over godly things one being an atheist..:P I would never forget those days.. Wish if we all could get together to relive those moments. I learnt to be a mediocre gamer from the master gamers. Never knew who is better than whom. You never know what your destiny awaits. Six months of separation and awesomeness. I had to take my step there letting me decide what is more important family or career?? I couldn’t think of any alternative solution. A thought on managing both was too strenuous. I had to put my foot down and quit my successful job. It came as a shock to my employers and they asked for some time. And then destiny had something else in hand for me. The company for the first time offered me to work as a consultant with an option of working from home. It was like a dream come true, like my prayers didn’t go waste. He made me realize there is someone called god not that I didn’t believe but only when you get answers it is easier to accept.
It’s been close to two months now that I am working as a consultant and again now I have put my papers. Ha-ha Reason? My husband’s getting transferred to Singapore. My employers are like what the …. Again… now what?? People should believe in destiny and no matter how much ever you try to predict it, it is always a surprise…

Now it was like we were planning for a small vacation to Bangalore and Kerala somewhere in the end of July. Santosh (my husband) had to apply for leave and I didn’t have much of problem, had to adjust my schedules that’s all. Finally after going through a number of packages and talks with my uncle who generally arranges it for us, we decided to get our leaves sanctioned. Santosh sent his request and in minutes he gets a reply “Wait, you need to be here in Singapore by end of June”. He was excited and showed me the mail. I was thrilled and couldn’t believe my eyes. We weren't expecting something like this, not so soon.

What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise? Today I have so much of trust on God that he is giving answers for all the hardships I had gone through in the last 1 year. And my people supported me through thick and thin. Now When I hear somebody sigh, "Life is hard," I am always tempted to ask, "Compared to what? :)

1000 days to live

I remember the movie Dasvidaniya. This particular movie has taught me to keep up the spirit when we are passing through our hiccups in life. Somehow I find it very interesting to keep a checklist of my dreams and wishes and mark how many of them have been fulfilled.
It gives a sense of satisfaction as to how close we are getting towards acheiving them. Imagine you have just 1000 days in hand and how will you fulfil them? Now 1000 days is just a number - I don't know why this number came to my mind. Heh, It means a lot in a city like Mumbai. Now I hope u understand where I am heading too. Have you noticed the traffic during peak hours in Mumbai? I realized it today morning 5.45 am. I know its too early for me to wake up but the best part is it took exactly 1/2 hr for me to reach Mulund from Malad. Damn fast ain't it? I was puzzled was it the rick driver whose enjoying the speed long drive or is it the cool and less polluted empty roads. I decided thereon, any long travel should be done at the dawn hours. It takes at the least close to an hour and half to reach Mulund from Malad during the peak hours if you driver is a pretty well drive and knows how to race with the ricks and other drivers. Else you remain stuck your whole life. The worst part is you are completely drenched out sitting and waiting and full of dust. After all this you look like some one has fought with a kiddo in the mud. Guys take it from me travel during non traffic hours and save your life :) 5.45AM is a really good time to venture out.

Social Networking Fritters

Which are the popular social networking sites in India? Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, Hi5 & so many more. I receive invitations of a new SN site every other day. You wanna squander your precious time just login and the timer starts. The purpose behind the SN sites is to catch up with long lost friends, dating, hacking, communities etc. Though people use it to overcome their mental and phsycological situations too. This actually helps to show off and create interest to know what the other person is doing. Testimonials with long love stories. Why does one want to publicize love?
Fake userids of popular figures. What not? Anything you name and you can find it there. Think of ambiguity and the next name will be of FB. FB is one SN site filled with enough confusion to let people go mad. And still they love it. It takes a hell to understand whats happenning where until you get a hand on it. Thousands of updates in the form of comments, publishing new activities, playing games, variety of quizzes among also these are the banner ads which are clicked by mistake not knowing whether it was an ad or some new application of facebook. FB has lots of addictive virtual games buy, sell, hit, run etc and the toppers in the favorites list are Farmville, Mafia Wars, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Cafeworld, YoVille etc. I think zynga games have known the secret to make their players glued to the games. I still play farmville realizing I am spending so much time just to harvest my crops, plow, seed etc. I don't know whether in reality I would something like that. Keep muttering to myself if you want to waste time start playing games on FB. I realized there are so many other things to deluge in life its better not to doodle on the PC Screen for hours going around a social networking site.

After 9 months!

I know you guys might think what after nine months? No its not what just propped up in your mind.;) I am talking about the 9 months I was a housewife. For the first time I could imagine how my mom feels staying all day alone at home doing the insistent household chores, waiting for her husband and kids.
I remember Dec,1st was the first day of my role as a home maker. Cooked food, cleaned the house and rest of the day was spent watching the Idiot Box, surfing net etc. This started to be my routine stuff. Slowly boredom started creeping in. A temporary solution was joining the 3D Animation class. Besides, I also started looking out for a new job. Like sprinkling salt over the burnt, every offer that I received required me to relocate to a different city.
This phase made me realize the importance of being employed. It's not just about getting monthly income but there are many strings attached to it like financial independence, exposure, personality development etc.
A must say, this period was a good enough time for me to accustom to the new life. Learn t a good deal of palakkad iyer cooking. Got a chance to visit Singapore without wasting my leaves.
Today I have a wonderful and exciting job, but I have made sacrifices for the same.
There are legitimate pros and cons in being a home maker and/or being employed. I feel as on today that every woman should be at least financially independent and smart enough to live life on her own if a situation ever arises.(No Offense To Anyone):) And I think at least every house wife will support me in this.

Left my world

Finally I left home
Finally I left my world
A new set of responsibilities
A new crowd to meet
Things have changed,
People have changed.
Miss them so much that I can't change.
Like never before have I felt
Today, Tomorrow and day-after the same
Every change new to me.
My home my world I miss u so much.
My heart aches to leave my world behind

Me the Arian, U the Leo and Hum the ???

Thinking about horoscopes, astrology, star signs, Sun signs and moon signs, they play such an important role in our lives. People who believe tend to live every aspect of their life like it says. I fall among the ones who believe but don’t depend on it. It does sometimes act as a part of recreation. I like to hear what my stars say about me, my characteristics, my lifestyle etc. Maybe bcuz I know mine is one of the best horoscopes with the stars and moons falling at the right houses etc... Ahem not boasting but heard this from my parents and grand parents, now they can’t be telling false right ;-)

Now for more details into our birth chart, the date and time of birth play an important role for the oracle to tell our fortunes with a detailed analysis. A minor mistake can transform your life, though one may find it not matching to the occurrences in life but the mind tends to reconcile the aspects with what he said. Something that I don’t find logical is how can one know the exact time of birth well the first sapling in the womb is also a new life and also our venture into the world by giving a crackling smile to our mom’s is also a new birth , its so difficult to ascertain the time of birth.

Now there are different types of astrologers we have visited for finding the right groom, career, etc... I know just three of them

1. Naadijyotisyar,

2. Panikkers and

3. Social Worker astrologers

Naadijyotisyar is one who checks the Naadi (Pulse rate of your body) or takes a thumb impression with the help of which he can predict your future, present and past.

They generally have this wooden leaf called as Olai which is supposed to contain all information about us like about our parents, life partner, family affairs, relations, karma, lifestyle, etc And I have found to be true to 80% with regards to me. And this is supposed to be one of the best form of astrology which gives 90% of the right predicaments.

Panikkers are basically Keralite astrologers who envisage using the age-old method called Kavadi – it’s done by placing the shells after chanting some mantras in a random order based on some calculations. Then on the basis of placement of shells they are able to foretell the incidents. Their expertise is generally used to get rid of bad or evil karma. They would explain the cause for such happenings and endow with a list of pariharams which is done to cancel the effect. This way it’s easy for them to mint money as most of the deeds are performed by them, which includes their fee, taxes, commission etc. This policy is nowadays followed by every professional fortune-teller. Some are asked to wear different stone studded rings/pendants to pacify the bad effects like a Gomedhak for Rahu, Yellow sapphire for Guru, Blue sapphire for Shani, or to bring in changes in their behaviour like pearl to bring peace to heart, reduce anger etc... And people do follow these spending lots on the precious stones as well as the fee though it also adds to the beauty.

The third ones are the social workers cum astrologers found very easily at everyone’s disposal. Of these some are really talented with their predicaments while some just brush off many things. They do this as a service and people in return gift them with effect to the good events that happen. Take for example my Mom-in-law she is a classic astrologer. Astrology is in her genes and she is very good at that. I do sometimes take her review when I am venturing in to a new task. She gives all her advice related to the right day, right time and so on. And she is quite popular in our locality Kudos MIL!

While here’s my husband who is very much interested in star signs, guess he too has the astrology thingy in his genes. Well I never told my sixth sense is very strong ;-) Did I? So one might thing what’s the Arian and Leo doing in the title? Well I am an Arian and my hubby is a Leo and so I just thought when its hum what would be the new member’s star, date, or time? :-)

Reach out to me!

Having been a loyal airtel customer I am sad to say today I had to move over to Vodafone due to the declining network quality in Mumbai. Today my vodafone number got activated and I can feel my phone come back to life. Tring! Tring! Arrival of SMSes as well as calls from my near and dear ones. Feel great to see my phone active again! Airtel number was the one I suggested everyone and now I keep telling all that the service has fallen. Never have I had a bad experience with them. Alas!! Here the relationship ends :(

I have received so many vintage calls in this number be it my Job Offer or my hubby's or mom's or Sissy or dad's or bhaiyya's , phew! the list just gets longer. I had been emotionally attached to it (SOB!). Humph! emotional attachments kept aside, I also adored the number coz it totalled to "One" the number of a Leader albeit my new number wanted me to be lucky and it luckily totalled up to my lucky number "Seven".

Sigh! In awe with my realisation of 9am being my birthright(Thanx to Jai). I cast a glance out side the window( yawn!), it's Cloudy and drizzling. Santosh(hubby) had done with his prayers and got ready for his office. Bid adieu wishing me a great day, after his breakfast.
Holding a cup of cold tea in my hand I realise I need to leave for office in an hour or so, on such a wonderful day. A sigh of relief on the thought that its a Friday. The AC at work makes me feel cold and the environment nostalgic. I Check my mails and login to GTALK. My friend Jai comes online with a "Hallo" and I say "Hi,am feeling nostalgic today" and he asks "nostalgic for what?". This puts my brain to task, for what am I feeling nostalgic?
--Days when I was(still) a crazy fan of HarryPotter , after every book it would take me easy 3-4 days to be back in the real world.
--The day when I met my hubby. A rainy day and made him wait for long 45mins. Still remember the day , me getting down the matunga bridge in a white windcheater and him standing there waiting for me( hehehe) Gosh! cant imagine its almost an year from the day we met. Over a cup of coffee our lives changed and it was bells ringing everywhere.
-- Every time my heart pounced on the thought that I am getting married soon.
-- Everything that mom did for me from getting my coffee to everything I wanted(love ya). Never realised I would also have to do that.
Some wistful thoughts that would take me back to where I was. But where am I? Where do I go?
After all this brainstorming nostalgia, I am feeling sleepy. But no chance of getting a quick nap. To end it I must say I accept this cynical quote "Nostalgia isn't what it used to be" written by someone .

Splendid Rains!

Here comes the Rain again! Tip! Tip! the first rain drops fall on my face. The dark clouds passing by brings me a nostalgic feeling. The rain droplets wash my face and the cold breeze chills my nerves with goose pimples all over. I see smiling faces around, with a sigh of relief from the hot summer.
Getting wet in the first rain is an awesome feeling. I believe monsoon should arrive when we are on a vacation. Stay at home , watch a good dvd, cuddle in a cosy bean bag with a cup of hot chocolate coffee or rather a lip smacking Masala chai with Molaga Bajji(Chilli pakodas). Rains remind me of my vacations in Mavelikara(Kerala) where my grandparents stay in this big house with around 11 rooms with a fascinating store room, where we used to have our treasure hunts. Most of our summer vacations were spent at our grandparents place. And since the monsoon arrives early in kerala, by the time we need to return to school, the rains begin. The weather being volatile, never know when there's gonna be a lightning & thunder accompanied with heavy slashing rains. A short circuit and the electricity is gone. Scared mom & grandma would shout at us , "Get into the Store room", where its dark and the lightning won't hit us. We see a mouse running around and all of us give a shout!. And the most brave from of all us was our great grand mother(called as Athai by me & jo), be it thundering or lightning she would sit out at the veranda muttering some slokas till my grandma pleads to get her inside :P( Old people are brave isn't it?)
It was fun those days, after the rains subside we used to make paper boats and see them sail across small little lakes formed outside the house. The drops on the petals and leaves looked so pretty. The green beauty soothes the mind and eyes so much that I still wouldnt mind going to kerala for a short trip.
How I wish to go back and enjoyi those days again!! So till the rains arrive here in Mumbai I will have to keep singing this lullaby "Rain Rain come again! Little johnny want to play!".

Blink! Blink! Blink! Saturday Arrives!

I blink my eyes. Trying to open my eyes wide and check the big clock on the wall. Oh! no I am late again! Look around and see my hubby is still asleep." Wake up!" and he says "its saturday dear". Blink! Blink! is it? And with 2 more super speedy blinks i realize the clock is sweet 20 mins ahead of us. Guess the clock wants to speed up our already fast life. Wide awake after a hundred more blinks and yawns, I get to the kitchen to make me a cup of masala chai ( coffee turned tea drinker, had lots of caffeine now lets try something else). Clink! Clink! The vessels clink as I touch them to prepare tea and break fast for the two souls. Question of the day what do I prepare for breakfast?, What do I do for lunch?. Do I really need to cook? Any chance to escape from the world of vessels and electronic food processors? Done with breakfast, Blink! and switch on the tv to catch up what I missed yesterday when the IPL match was on, entire evening thru night.
My brain just clinks, kinks, minks, dinks and more in the thought that how could some one be mad about cricket so much. Day in and out for the last 10-15 days, everyone is talking about Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Kolkatta Knight Riders, Chennai SuperKings(Mind it!) etc Who wonthe match? who lost? who's supposed to win? OMG! somebody save me.

A blink! in my eye and my hubby asks "Whats the matter you look lost?" I smile at him and just nod , coz I know there is one big cricket fan at home too. A break from cricket and we are out to finish of work left pending for the weekend. And the day ends with big shig planning for a movie (a must night show) with friends and family , where the plan may or may not work out. So if we are out for the movie then the day ends like that or else mera rootna uska manana and a movie in the dvd player and back to sleep, waiting for a lazy sunday!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://dreamzpay.blogspot.com/2008/05/blink-blink-blink-saturday-arrives.html' title='Blink! I know its high time that I wrote about him after the relase of the movie. See I always wanted to but never got the right time to sit and inscribe about Thalaivar's style , dialogue presentation, acting that just makes me go gaga on him. At the age of 58, look at him dance like a Tiger in the song "Ballelaka". The imagery technology that has changed him look to rajini in his 30’s. I have seen the movie twice and wish to see many more times, I know the count is less for a crazy Thalaivar fan. Luckily I had got to see the movie 2nd day of the release. And the crowd in the movie hall went all the way whistling and clapping for his super ultimate dinchak style & dialogues.
To tell about the movie, I seriously didn’t find any captivating story the entire 3 hrs, which I spent in the theatre, but still found it worth the pay. Guess for what, well then I would say for his style, picturization, the efforts they have put up for the costive & beautiful sets where the songs are shot, the computer generated imagery for younger & fairer rajini, and the bewitching costumes worn by Shriya (the lead actress), also some unforgettable dialogues from the movie that are memorized by the tamil kootam or fans:
"Per ketta chumma adiradilla "
"Kanna panningadaan kootama varum, Singam Singlea Varum "
"Poo vizundha Poo paadhai, Tala vizhunda Singa paadhai "
and many more to say!
Also the music compositions by the music legend A R Rahman are stupefying as always.
I am waiting to watch Thalaivar’s next upcoming movie. I suppose he is acting a movie per year. Hope we would be able to see a similar stylish stunning, futuristic ah! anything more the tamil public would want to see from him.

Well I have prioritized rajini more on this article for the reason that I wanted to write about Rajini and his movie Sivaji which has been a super duper hit all over India as well internationally? So please spare me guys for not writing about the hot chick Shriya Saran who has played the role of Tamilshelvi in Sivaji. Just like the famous comedy actor Vivek has said in one of his popular films,"Epidi irunda naan ipidi aayiten". This one sentences covers a whole lot of meaning. Not that this sentence applies to my life a lot. But somehow this dialogue of his just reminds me so many things.Guys you gotta see the comedy cuts by Vivek. :)

Today am married, our first monthly anniversary falling tomorrow. Three weeks have passed by and I donno how. Six months back was the day I got engaged to a wonderful person. Not knowing how my life's gonna take me through after marriage, awaiting the feeling to sink in that I am committed. Today at this point of time, I find days have just flew faster than a jet plane and my status has flux from Miss to Mrs. Adjustments, compromises, sacrifices just lay on my way. Balancing my life as a centre point in an equilateral triangle with all angles named after the important people in my life. Being apart from my family, mom, dad & sis. Keep thinking how are they gonna take it. Are they happy for the big transition in my life? I know they are but still the question keeps arising in my mind.Have seen people go mad in love and outpouring happiness for the new life. Dont they feel sad for parting away from their family. How can someone just forget and blend into the new life. Will they know that I am gonna miss them a lot? They play a vital role in tuning my life in the right way. I will always be their loving daughter, sis throughout my life. Let people tell my parents they have such two wonderful daughters who are always there for them.

I am lost in my own world with a rocky road to head. My life flooded with people who care and love me more than I have dreamt of. Everyone wants me with them or rather better put as i want to be with all of them. Does a small change in status bring such a huge transition in life? Still more to go, donno at what stage of life would I again sense a transition to happen. Life planning to teach me a lot of I guess.

Alright! Go ahead! I am ready to face it! Here I come, lemme see myself play my part. And everyone HAPPY out there!Amen!

To Work for FUN!

From the past experiences that i had in an organization, I thought offices are supposed to be very lineant with the work environment allow employeesto also have fun while they work. There is one thing that made me realize my career line, that's I am really crazy about mobiles better put as gadgets. And also to do the Graphics designing kinda stuff. This is something I realised after I started watching anime, playing games that would include pc games to console games which exposed the creativity involved in them to me. At work, in my previous organization, had an hour of lunch break where we finished the lunch as quick as possible to get on LAN to play NFS-5. It was so much fun that I remember how everyone of us shouted being so much involved in the game. Also did an overtime at times to finish the game ;). Thats where I learnt to play Starcraft and Baldur's Gate(similar to Never winter Nights) , Its not that we played rather than work but these formed a part of our work to know the gameplay before we start a project.
I had an offer in hand when we were gonna start a new project, although reluctant whether i would get the same environment. But after I joined found people here where even more crazy about gaming, designing etc and lots of creativity, innovation. In this office I came to know of console gaming with PS2, PS3 , Nintendo, XBOX etc etc. A true gamer would lend their hearts out to get one of those playstations. One day i was playing NFS Most wanted on the XBOX, the first time in my life, the graphics, sound effects , vibrating effects on the joystick were just awesome to die for. One wouldnt know if its dawn or dusk, till we get to the end. I have learnt so many things from the new organization, a nice learning process. That keeps us motivated to work good. I wouldnt believe me saying to myself that I did play God of War2 on PS2 - such a mind blowing experience for a naive like me, even if you are just gazing at some one play, you would find it to be like a violent animation movie. Also played Burnout a lot many times on my colleagues PS2.
The gusto should be felt yaar, thats something I can't explain. Now this doesnt mean we play all while than work. We work like smart zombies :P (I think zombies is just too much) But yea we do work hard :) That actually results on our appraisals, you gotta see that.
So people you gotta find out means to have loads of FuN while YoU WorK! Smart work and loads of play would lead to a hike in pay , howzzat??

LIFE, Oh! gr8 Lord!

I looked at the sun, it rose and set everyday Why would the sun want to rise and set everyday rather shine always . Does the sun want to impart something? Me being the blessed one why doesn' t Tthe Lord explain to me the theme of life? The theme of life to live life as it comes. Donno if there's a tmrw but have to live the fullest today. No time to regret but fill it with happiness. A day spent is a day spent, never can it come back. If i could just do that, will someone invent a time-travel machine? I would always be young and at school with my parents forever. :-) Introduced to so many people , some become a part of our lives. Still we go ahead in life or rather life takes us ahead and we need to follow it. Something i really dont understand what has lord thought for the humans with the cycle of births and deaths. Is it really true that soul comes to life to finish off his duties generally said as karma, so that he attains salvation and/or saturation. There are people who are never useful and their entire life is just like a page in a book, once flipped its done. Met people who say something but never intend to do it, Boast of so many things but never done Whats the meaning in life? Every birth has its expiry date written, then why to live to die? Whats the purpose in life? How does one know, why is he/she sent to the human world unless someone lets her know.I guess i have put up sentences that actually contradict itself or has anyone ever felt the same as i have. I really dont know what i m trying to characterize , its just some words put together.

Savvy siblings!!

Someone who made me realize what it means to be without your loved ones. Little did i know that my life would be so dull without her. Little did i understand, how much she suffered, when i thought she wanted to gain the max. of mom's love. After her surgery,a lightning struck me what if she never came back, what would have happened if she had to suffer all an unknown reason, how would my life be if she is not by my side?? These thoughts brought thunders down my brain & body. I have shared with her the most wonderful and sad moments. Shez my younger sibling, always been caring, loving, possessive, etc... i could just add on, all that an elder sis would do for me. Shez the naughtiest, one who irritates me to the limit and people beware one needs to have loads of patience (phew!) be it shopping or her anger or watever! We both fight a lot but when mom interferes, we both are on each others side. :) Our relationship is such a wonderful one that am out of words to explain it. And to tell the truth, have seen/heard people envy us (touchwood). Wassay sis? Love you lots dear and wish u always be my side no matter wat! The first day of the class, three of us waiting for the faculty to turn up. Half an hour late our first tutor turns up. He was to teach us HTML. We introduced each other and he striked a comment that three goddesses are here, the 3 students were Lakshmi(myself), Gauri and Vidya. Not to miss the most important person's name, the faculty who taught us was Joreson(Tutor turned brother).
We had created a good rapport with all the faculty members in SSi. Joreson was then the Technical leader at SSi(Mulund branch). His birthday was coming closer, the first week of august, we were invited for his birthday, he had asked to tie him rakhi. That was a wish turning true moment. How did god know that i yearned for brotherly love, support, care and confidence? All my friends had a brother of their own and i had none. From then its been 8 years now, i dont know if in real such precious relationships can be maintained so well (Touchwood). I am proud to have him as my brother dearest.
To tell u more about Joreson, hez now working in Oracle,Hyderabad. Married to wonderful person, thats my bhabhi. She acknowledges our relationship, and is a very sweet person and both bhaiyya & bhabhi are very much a part of our family.

There are many more moments that i cherish and they play an important role in ameliorating my life.. There are times when i chuckle into a laugh when i remember his silly acts. God bless bhaiyya & bhabhi. And i pray that i always be a very good sister to him.

P.S: Bala's posts in his blog "Bliss is being loved" inspired me to write my post.

Da Vinci Code!

I read the novel "Da Vinci Code" the second time last week. I found cryptology and language of symbols catching an interest in me. I never knew symbols had so much of covert connotation to them. The cryptic texts and the symbols that lead the main characters in the story to the place where the holy grail is buried is so well written that anyone would want to learn more about symbols, veiled messages in paintings , breaking cryptic codes , using devices like cryptexes etc.
I decided to blog elements that made me gaze, from the novel, and they are:

Priory of Sion:
The Priory of Sion is a secret society which held the secrets of the Holy Grail.

The knights Templar:
The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, popularly known as the Knights Templar or the Order of the Temple, were among the most famous of the Christian military orders.

Opus Dei:
Opus Dei, formally known as The Prelature of the Holy Cross and Opus Dei, is a personal prelature of the Catholic church that teaches the Catholic belief that everyone is called to holiness and that ordinary life is a path to sanctity. The Opus Dei prelature is made up of ordinary lay people and secular priests governed by a prelate. Opus Dei is Latin for "Work of God", and the organization is sometimes known simply as "the Work".

Secret of the Holy Grail, by the Priory of Sion:

The painting depicts as if Leonardo knew that Mary Magdalene(Jesus's wife) was actually the Holy Grail. This is said to be reinforced by the letter "V" that is created with the bodily positions of Jesus and Mary, whic is supposedly the symbol of the sacred feminine.Mary Magdalene carried the bloodline of Christ when Jesus was crucified. The secret was hidden by the priory in a secret crypt beneath Rosslyn Chapel.

Anagrams:
An anagram is a type of word play, the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce other words, using all the original letters exactly once; e.g., Eleven plus two=Twelve plus one, A Decimal Point=I'm a Dot in Place, Astronomers=Moon Starers. There are four anagrams used in the book, one is the Fibonacci sequence out of order, second and third are "O, Draconian devil!" and "Oh, lame saint!" for "Leonardo da Vinci" and "The Mona Lisa". The fourth "So dark the con of Man" being an anagram for "Madonna of the Rocks".

Cryptex:

The cryptex is a combination of two words "Cryptology" and "Codex" , an apt word for the device. The cryptex works "much like a bicycle's combination lock", and if one arranges the disks to spell out the correct password, "the tumblers inside align, and the entire cylinder slides apart" . In the inner compartment of the cryptex, secret information can be hidden, written on a scroll of thin papyrus wrapped around a fragile vial of vinegar as a security measure: if one does not know the password but tries to pry the cryptex open by force, the vial will break and the vinegar will dissolve the papyrus before it can be read.In the story two cryptexes had to be opened. It is claimed the original design came from the secret diaries of Leonardo Da Vinci.

The characters in the novel had to open two cryptexes and the passwords had to be broken from two riddles.

Riddle #1 (White Cryptex)
Clue:
An ancient word of wisdom

frees this scrolland help us keep her scatter'd family whole

a headstone praised by templars is the key

and Atbash will reveal the truth to thee.
Answer: S-O-F-I-A

A headstone by templars is the key: Baphomet. The z-bridge, rumoured as unsafe by quite a lot of people ever since my office shifted to matunga road(Thanks to my colleagues who have never made me feel the bridge unsafe). So the bridge is one of the longest bridge i have ever come across, maybe bcuz the sunrays directly fall on the bridge at any point of time till its night which makes me dizzy and tired. Everytime i cross the bridge a single thought crosses my mind," when will i reach the other end of it".

The bridge is built at the Matunga Station. The bridge starts from Matunga station till it reaches Tulsi pipe road also known as Tulsi pipe line. The bridge goes alongside the Railway workshop and so covers a number of tracks below. It rather looks like a rectangular 'Z' shaped box with the tops off. It looks like the rectangular boxes put together at certain points.

Now how does Nine and three quarters relate to the z-bridge???

Today on my way to office, while crossing the bridge, i just remembered the platform nine and three quarters. Thats the platform from where Harry Potter boards the train to Hogwarts. I somehow felt that both the platform and bridge are related. And it takes me long 15mins to cross that bridge, which suddenly made me think if there was some nine and three quarters bridge that would directly get me to the Tulsi pipe road or at the circle thats just a minute from my office.

Harrypotter series have made such a great impact on me, i sometimes feel bad that i am born as a muggle or maybe i havent yet realesed what my magical powers are or may be i am half blood. Although i realize that the muggle world and the magical world have their own pros and cons.

I never knew stories could make such a big impact on lives. I really wish if i had studied at hogwarts, was a good friend of harry potter, help him fight "The one who must not be named" etc etc. Aah! is it really possible?

Want to know more about the platform, check in here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogwarts_Express#Platform_Nine_and_Three_Quarters

Lyrics of my Fav Song!!! :-)

Enrique Iglesias - Maybe

If I had one single wish
I go back to the moment I kissed
Do you goodbye no matter how hard I tried
I can't live without you in my life

Maybe you say you still want me
Maybe you say that you don't
Maybe we say it was over
Baby I can't let you go

I walk around trying to understand
Where we were wrong and I can't pretend
It wasn't me it wasn't you
But I'm convinced we gave up too soon

Maybe you say you still want me
Maybe you say that you don't
Maybe we say it was over
Baby I can't let you go

Nothing that you lose was up to losing you
There's nothing I can take
When I run to you, when I come for you
You tell me I'm too late

Maybe you say you still want me
Maybe you say that you don't
Maybe we say it was over
Baby I can't let you go

.....

(If i could also upload the audio!)

Vada Pav Day!

Did anyone know august 23rd was Vadapav day? Vadapav being the desi burger. A burger that anyone and everyone relies on at any point of time during the day. Isn't it unfair that no one remembered the Vada pav day! A day solely tributed to the gr8 Vadapav :P

Well friends, does anyone know why is aug 23rd called the wadapav day? Ok, Lemme tell you that Jumbo King outlets are the ones who provide the famous and tasty wada pavs.

Jumbo King was started five years back on August 23 and the company observes the same as ‘Vada-pav Day’. (Kewl na! :-))

People need to and i think are very thankful to the dearest wadapav. Since its the tastiest fast food one could have when one is very hungry or needs to catch a fast snack before they get back to work or home.

Check this link ppl,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vada_pav

Vada pav in wikipedia, awesome. Has India taken all measures to get retired? What about the future of the people out here?
